NBC breaches and will owe expectancy to Conan O'Brien

From The Cleveland Leader:
Conan O'Brien is feeling somewhat like the redheaded stepchild over at NBC, and sources say that he's now ready to leave the network. NBC's abrupt decision to cancel Jay Leno's 10pm program after just five months and to move him to O'Brien's 11:35pm slot has him fuming....
NBC is in breach of the contract, which means O'Brien is free to leave. And if he leaves, they'll still have to pay out the remaining $80 million left on his contract. If he goes to another network and makes less than $20 million per year, NBC has to foot the difference.

  1. Professor, I thought you might get a kick out of this.

Hours after releasing a statement saying that he had no interest in manning 'The Tonight Show' if it was bumped to 12:05 am -- marking perhaps the biggest middle-finger letter from employer to boss we've ever seen -- Conan didn't hold back during his Tuesday monologue. He joked: "I've been giving the situation a lot of thought. When I was a little boy, I remember watching 'The Tonight Show' with Johnny Carson and thinking 'One day, I'm going to host that show for seven months.'"
